The dial of the SBGK015 is inspired by the vivid blue and emerald green underground lakes of Ryūsendō . Located in Iwaizumi in eastern Iwate Prefecture, Ryūsendō Cave is known for its vast underground galleries that arch over a clear, blue, sunless lake. The dial of the SBGK017 is inspired by southern ironware, a traditional metalwork produced in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. This famous handicraft dates back to Japan's Edo period (1603-1868), but it continues today and is prized by many for its beauty, durability, and even heat distribution. Nanbu tekki ironware has a unique texture on its exterior called arare or hail. This texture appears on the dark gray dial of the SBGK017.

Both models feature Grand Seiko's Thin Dress line of case designs. With the Thin Dress collection, Grand Seiko aims to create thinner, dressier timepieces that can be easily tucked into a shirt cuff. To this end, the case has a diameter of 39mm, a thickness of 11.6mm and a length of just 44mm. The shape has pronounced curvature and softer, more organic lines than more geometric designs like the 44GS. Additionally, the underside of the case is concave, allowing the watch to sit closer to the wrist. The dial and sapphire crystal are also curved, giving the watch a classic look, while the minute and power reserve indicator hands are artisan-shaped to complement the dome of the dial.Richard Mille RM 030 Replica

The case has a mix of high polished and hairline polished surfaces. Like all other Grand Seiko watches, it has been given a full Zaratsu polish to create a beautiful distortion-free finish even in the curved areas. Since Zaratsu polishing is traditionally performed on flat areas, Grand Seiko craftsmen have developed a special technique to achieve this very high level of polish.

Both watches are powered by Caliber 9S63, a hand-wound movement with a power reserve of 72 hours and an accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds per day (at rest). This movement is based on Caliber 9S64, but in order to achieve the unique dial layout with small seconds register and power reserve indicator, Grand Seiko watchmakers had to completely redesign the wheel train. As a result, the 9S63 movement has almost 20% more components than the 9S64. Other specs include 33 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 bph and a reluctance rating of 4,800 A/m (or 60 Gauss).
